7’9” R.W. Summers Model 793 Bamboo Fly Rod, 2/2, 3 wt. - NM Original Condition
It is a great pleasure to offer this outstanding prototype rod by Bob Summers.  According to Bob, it is the only rod of its kind.  It was the second prototype for a 7'9" 3 wt. rod. There was a first test rod, but the taper was tweaked a bit to create this rod, which is marked "#2 Test Rod" on the blank.  The rod is labeled as a Model 793 (7'9" 3 wt).  It dates to March 3, 2006.  According to Bob, the rod was designed for light presentations on big water, where there is room to battle a big fish.  I could see this rod just as easily at home on smaller streams.  The length and taper design make it a very versatile 3 wt.  All sections are full length and straight. All guides and ferrules are tight, and the ferrule fit is Summers’ perfect.  The rod weighs a mere 3.05 ounces.  This rod is absolutely exquisite, with incredible flaming and perfect varnish.  I really like the grip, too.  It is very comfortable.  The rod comes with its original custom bag, ferrule plug, and logo stamped rod tube.  Don’t miss this amazing and only known rod of its kind from a rod-making legend.  Priced, without any wait, at $3450.
