8’6” Heddon Global Brown Fiberglass Fly Rod Model 978 ~ 8 wt. ~ c. 1970
Offered is an 8’6” Heddon Global fly rod model 978 made from brown pressure-molded tubular fiberglass.  This is a 2-piece rod with all chromed guides and a down screw-locking, black and gold anodized reel seat.  It is wrapped in brown with gold trim.  It was considered by Heddon as a Fast Action rod for an 8 wt. line.  Marked on the blank is the model number, length, and line weight along with a faded Heddon sticker which indicates the rod as “area tested global” and “fast taper.”  All is structurally sound and stream ready.  All guides and ferrules are tight, and the ferrule fit is very good.  The tip section (measuring 51 1/2”) is shorter than the butt section (measuring 52 1/4”), but assembled the rod measures 3/8” longer than the 8’6” indicated rod length.  This is how it left the factory.  It should also be noted that there is a small 1/16” gap between the reel seat and cork (please see photos).  The rod weighs 6.4 ounces.  There is no bag or tube, but I will see what I can find for shipping.  $45 plus shipping.
