8’ 2/1 Orvis Impregnated “99” Bamboo Fly Rod ~ 4 3/8 oz. ~ 1966

Offering an 8’ Orvis “99” built in 1966.  This is a two-piece, one-tip rod with a weight of 4 3/8 oz.  It is rated for a DT7 or WF8, but some prefer a line or two below the Orvis designation.  The rod sports a set of blued, size 14/64 Super-Z ferrules, the typical red wraps of the “99”, and a Battenkill grade aluminum screw-locking reel seat with walnut spacer.  Both sections are full length and straight.  All guides and wraps are tight, and the ferrule fit is excellent.  Unfortunately, much of the Orvis script displaying the rod information is wearing off.  Ghosting remains where the ink has worn away, providing the following information: “Orvis Impregnated / “99” / 8’ – 4 3/8 oz. / HCH (7) or GBF (8).”  The butt and tip sections also carry the serial number 43,820, although this is only visible in the right light since the ink is gone.  Included is the original gray bag (no aluminum case).
