7’ 2/3 Maxwell Leonard 38-4 w/ Sales Receipt from 1981 Offering a 7’ 4 wt. Leonard rod model 38-4 made in 1981. This is a stellar 4 wt., and it is ready to go fishing. I am the second owner of this rod. The original owner purchased it directly from the Leonard shop in 1981. The dated sales receipt will be included with the rod. There are three tips with this rod. One of the two original tips is short by 1 1/2 inches. The third tip was made by Walt Carpenter when he repaired the short tip. In other words, there are two original tips (one short) and a third made by Carpenter, who also worked at Leonard. All guides and wraps are tight. The ferrules fit is good. The fit on one of the three tips is not as tight fitting as I would like, but it works. The varnish is excellent, and there are no splits, cracks or digs. Three sections are full length and straight at 42 1/2 inches each, and one tip is 41 inches. The rod weighs 3.25 ounces with a size 12 ferrule. Included is the original bag, tube, and sales receipt. Thank you.
