A very rare rod. Note the transition from the long slide ferules on the 1 year earlier #50 shown above to these very fine shorter slide gun metal finished ferrules. The same ferrules, without the Pyralin reinforcements, are found on the #65 (also shown above). This rod sports a Circassian Walnut slide band reel seat, as opposed to the Gumwood seat shown on the rod directly above. It has been professionally restored by Michael Sinclair and is as beautiful as the day it left the factory. (Material.. Split Bamboo) |

Refinished |
The rod needed to be refinished. It has been beautifully brought back to life and back on the water. It had no Heddon markings but is featured here because of its very short run with the recessed hood and uplocking Circassian Walnut realseat. These versions found between 1935 and 1936 are very seldom seen. This rod has chromed hardware (ending approx 1932) and up locking reel seat (beginning approx 1933), it also has the Pyralin ferule reinforcements only seen on this rod from 1933 to 1935. These attributes date this rod transitionally between 1932 - 1933. This rod would have originally come with two tips but to have survived 80+ years with its second tip still full length and intact, I would say this rod is doing fine. (Material.. Split Bamboo) |
